From the western portion of the Iberian Peninsula, renowned for its early world exploration Portugal sends one of the richest NiniMomos to date featured in our Spring 2009 Newsletter.
Inspired by the Zac Posen design in the Sak’s 5th Ave. display window for last year’s holiday season, Miss Portugal explodes onto the runway, a dream in shades of green and hand-sewn beadwork.
Miss Portugal’s gown begins with an asymmetrical one shoulder bodice of lush olive taffeta overlaid with a shimmering bronze tulle which is form fitting through bust and waist, and then ruches and ends asymmetrically at thighs.
Bodice has been encrusted with hand-sewn beadwork of mixed sequins and seed beads in shades of metallic gold and lime, deep jungle green and Kelly green.
In addition, dozens upon dozens of scattered genuine Swarovski crystal rhinestones have been added in shades of olivine, copper and bronze.
Shoulder has been adorned with a burst of hand-sewn fringe strands in mixed seed beads and genuine Swarovski crystal bi-cones.
This hand-sewn fringe has also been added along bodice edge as well as scattered down side of bodice.
Bodice gives way to an opulent and dramatic three tiered ball skirt consisting of layers of mixed tulle, organza and taffeta in shades of emerald, bronze, jungle and olive.
The organza layer of each tier has been festooned with meticulously hand-sewn beadwork in patterns of loops in hand-sewn sequins and seed beads matching bodice.
Dramatically enhancing the glitz and glimmer of this decadent ball gown are dozens upon dozens of scattered genuine Swarovski crystal rhinestones in shades that play of gown’s rich color scheme.
Full tulle underskirt
A custom made gold metallic lame threaded chapeau features tiny custom made olive taffeta bows attached in fringe formation to hat. Hat has been enhanced with hand-sewn scattered gold metallic sequins and seed beads.
Drop earring of shimmering genuine Swarovski crystal teardrop beads in green.
Wrists adorned with multiple beaded Swarovski crystal bi-cone bracelets.
